The man himself may not have been there in person, but that didn’t stop Eric Decker fans like Dustin Schroeder from arriving early at Joe Faber Field on Tuesday night to make sure they took home the former Rocori High School and current NFL wide receiver’s bobblehead doll.

“He’s local,” said Schroeder, 30, of Avon. “I graduated from Apollo, and he played at Rocori. So our teams played against each other. And it’s just neat to see a guy from the area make it to the NFL and do what he’s done.”

In all, 360 Decker bobbleheads were distributed to fans attending the St. Cloud Rox’s Northwoods League matchup with the Mankato MoonDogs. Fans who lined up early enough received tickets upon entering the gate and redeemed them for the actual dolls in the sixth inning. A crowd of 1,623 attended the game.

Rox co-owner and vice president Scott Schreiner said the decision to hold Eric Decker Bobblehead Night was made this past offseason.

“We wanted to do a bobblehead, and we were throwing names around,” said Schreiner, who graduated from Rocori in 1994 — 11 years before Decker graduated from the school.
